Austin, TX – Tanknology Inc. announced today that its licensee in Italy has become the first to offer the company’s newest video tank inspection system, the TankCam. According to Ignacio Allende, the company’s Vice President of International Operations, Tanknology Italy, an independent licensee, will be using the TankCam system throughout Italy and surrounding areas in Europe as required. Allende said that Tanknology Italy will use the system to provide customers with a clear look at the condition of their underground fuel storage tanks so that they can make informed decisions about actions they need to take. Rod Olson, President of Tanknology Italy, said, “The TankCam system is a rapid, very precise way for an owner to evaluate the condition and state of the interior of their USTs. There is nothing else like it.” Olson said that operators evaluating potential acquisitions can get a good sense of what’s going on in the tanks beneath the ground so that they know what they’re buying. Other applications for the TankCam system are to determine whether a tank cleaning is in order; provide valuable visual detail during a tank cleaning process; locate an unused riser from inside the tank, verify that overfill protection is intact, and identifying potential structural issues with the tank itself. Olson said that Tanknology Italy will now be able to provide customers an economical way to have a detailed picture of what’s happening underground without the costly and dangerous process of evacuating the tank of fuel and inspecting it from within. “A manned-entry inspection is so expensive that most people won’t do it unless it is absolutely necessary,” Olson said. “The TankCam™ changes that – now they will be able to quickly and inexpensively have a very detailed look inside their tanks and see for themselves what they need to do.” Based in Ronca, Verona, Tanknology Italy is a highly respected UST service provider. The company also performs tank and pipe testing using Tanknology’s VacuTect® unique tank testing technology, performs diesel fuel reconditioning services and suction line cleaning.
